*Wisdom* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her."* (Proverbs 4:7-8 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Prioritize wisdom over other things. The only caveat is, don't fall for any kind of wisdom that contradicts or negates Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV) For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1 Corinthians 1:23 (KJV) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
If your "wisdom" makes you turn away from God, you have actually missed wisdom. Christ has been made for us wisdom.
So the wisdom we must get is the type that places Christ as saviour, Lord and King over all.
_MEDITATION:_
*"True wisdom, promotes and brings honour to those who seek the wisdom from above"*

*Wisdom*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee."* (Proverbs 4:5-6 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Wisdom and understanding must be sought after, pursued, and aquired.
Wisdom and understanding can be forgotten. Effort must be made, structure put in place, so as not to forget ...
One can decline wisdom and understanding. One must make a conscious decision never to decline words of wisdom and understanding.
Those who fail to recognize wisdom and understanding when they appear, will refuse it either ignorantly or stubbornly.
The wise elders of late king Solomon advised his son to treat the people nicely, but Rehoboam was not in alignment with God. Hence, he didnt detect the wisdom and understanding of the aged.
Instead he swallowed the nonsense from his age mates, and paid the heavy price of losing the larger part of the Kingdom to Jeroboam.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Rehoboam forsook wisdom and as a result the kingdom was not preserved. Love wisdom and understanding for they will keep you and yours"*

*A Father's Instructions* (3)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.* (Proverbs 4:3-4 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
William Wordsworth in the year 1802, wrote the poem "My Heart Leaps Up". In it, he used the phrase, “Child is the Father of Man”.
This can also be rendered as the boy is the father of the man!
*"The term basically means that the behaviour and activities of a person's childhood go a long way in building his personality."*
In Proverbs 4:1-4, verse 1 takes its justification first in verse 2. Verse 2 is gotten or formed from the explanation in verse 3 & 4.
The father who called for the attention of his children to his instructions, explained that he too was his father's son.
And his father taught him to *"Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live."*
_MEDITATION:_
*"When a father fails to teach his children, he has failed to teach his children's children."*
*"When a son fails to take to the instructions of a father, he has failed his own children also"*

*A Father's Instructions* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.* (Proverbs 4:2 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Proverbs 4:2 For I give you good teaching; do not give up the knowledge you are getting from me. (BBE)
Verse 1 says take seriously the instructions of a father. Verse 2 tells us why! Fathers are full of good teachings!! Don't give up the knowledge they give you.
Proverbs 23:23 (KJV) says *"Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."*
What we pay to buy wisdom, instructions and understanding is attention and diligence.
You pay attention and diligence to buy truth! Sometimes in a sense you can pay money, but that is only if you need, say to pay for a conference, register for a retreat venue or move to a location via transportation and its fare where such truth will be dished out.
Locate and identify the fathers in your life and reconsider the truths they have been sharing with you. Many free truths are looking for people to cherish them. Many fathers are being taken for granted.
Another tragedy is when one does not identify those fathers or father figures that God has placed in their lives.

*A Father's Instructions*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.* (Proverbs 4:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
God designed fathers to be wise and experienced enough to give valuable instructions.
God's plan is that fathers are well experienced and well knowledgeable to give valuable and life impacting instructions.
As a young man, if you are not consciously acquiring knowledge and building capacity to make you become in the near future an invaluable instructor to your friends, colleagues, subordinates, and eventually your own children or wards in your care, you are not doing well.
Today's tragedy is having fathers who deprive their wards and children of sound and valid instructions.
Ours is fast becoming a world, where boys and young men become ill prepared or even accidental fathers.
Every father, must ensure that they understand the power of their instructions. If all our young boys and children follow all our instructions will they know understanding and will our world become a better place?
_MEDITATION:_

*The fool's disgrace & the wise's glory*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools."* Proverbs 3:35 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
Proverbs 3:35 The wise will inherit honor, but fools get disgrace. (ESV)
Proverbs 3:35 Honour, shall the wise inherit, but, as for dullards, shame shall carry them away. (EB)
Proverbs 3:35 You will be praised if you are wise, but you will be disgraced if you are a stubborn fool. (CEV)
A stubborn fool is one who doesn't know he's foolish or one who doesn't learn how to stop being foolish.
Disgrace is a function of who or what one habitually does.
By deeds shall wisdom be known. Likewise by deeds shall foolishness be known as well.
The reward of actions that are deemed wise, is honour or glory. The punishment of actions that are deemed foolish is disgrace or shame.
Disgrace is not an accident. Likewise recognition, honour or glory is not also by chance or luck.
Consistency of wise steps will bring the celebration of honour/glory. Consistent foolish acts displayed will bring a harvest of shame/disgrace.
_MEDITATION:_
*If you're always being corrected and you refuse to repent or change, you may end in the promotion or disgrace of shame.*

*Curses and Blessings*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just."* Proverbs 3:33 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
Curses & blessings: there is something they both share in common- you dont always know from face value.
Be careful. Just because one Lagbaja is doing well and everything is making sense in their life, does not mean they are blessed. You can see a Dangote for instance, and say, "Wow see the one the Lord has blessed" but you may be speaking in ignorance.
Be careful. God's blessings are not necessarily measured in material possessions. You may be living in difficulties and pitying yourself, without knowing that God counts you as blessed.
The problem is we want to measure by our human senses. You will be many times wrong. For the one who blesses already concluded that the life of man does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
Saul was 'reigning' and doing great, persecuting the church, "feeling fly" and looking like the latest warlord in town. Unknown to him, he was living a cursed life -- as everyone who is not saved, by the way.
When he became Paul, the Apostle, his privileges were removed. His guards reassigned. In fact, his story became one of "the hunter is now hunted". He was looking like a struggling fellow. But guess what? That was his blessed state of life.
_MEDITATION:_
*Be careful. That mansion may be the address of the cursed of the Lord. While that "face me and slap you" is the address of God's blessings. Be careful how you conclude on who is blessed and who is favored or who is experiencing grace. Heaven will be full of wonders when the true blessed ones start coming down that glorious isle. Oh, glory! Can't wait!*

*AVOID VIOLENCE*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways, for the devious person is an abomination to the LORD, but the upright are in his confidence."* Proverbs 3:31-32 ESV
_Bible Insight:_
God does not approve of violence. He finds the ways of the violent abominable. This means that God does not consider violence a small matter.
The practice of righteousness demands that we say no to violent acts and that we don't envy or commend or consider as enjoyable those who do!
Proverbs 3:31-32 Don't be jealous of cruel people or follow their example. The LORD doesn't like anyone who is dishonest, but he lets good people be his friends. (CEV)
Proverbs 3:31-32 Don't try to be like those who shoulder their way through life. Why be a bully? "Why not?" you say. Because GOD can't stand twisted souls. It's the straightforward who get his respect. (Message)
Proverbs 3:31-32 (KJV) Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
_MEDITATION:_
*Deep reflection: If God does not approve of violence, is it acceptable to sit and enjoy entertainment videos, movies, etc rich in violence? ?*

*UNPROVOKED HOSTILITY*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm."* Proverbs 3:30 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
To start with, Christ is our model. He does not even permit us to respond to hostility with hostility. This point must be recognized.
Proverbs 3:30 Don't argue just to be arguing, when you haven't been hurt. (CEV)
Proverbs 3:30 Contend not with a man for no reason--when he has done you no wrong. (Amplified)
Proverbs 3:30 Do not take up a cause at law against a man for nothing, if he has done you no wrong. (BBE)
Proverbs 3:30 Don't pick a fight without reason, when no one has done you harm. (NLT)
While this advice seems quite commonsensical, many do not follow it.
A lot of people enjoy drama and will rather jump at every opportunity for such.
We need to live simply and with lots of focus on what matters. The rule is, don't provoke a quarel or a fight or a case when there is nothing calling for it.
The important thing here is to really assess situations, and not just on the face value, to be sure there is something serious to be addressed, before you escalate them.
